Who we are
LiGr systems is a growing startup in the sports tech industry which creates automated, real-time data-driven graphic displays (scoreboards, team lists, infographics) for live video, including for sports organisations, from grassroots to professional leagues.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an ambitious, motivated designer who is up to date on the forefront of next generation tooling, delving into the world of front-end engineering. We are a small team, and want someone to take ownership of our art direction while working closely with our engineering team to bring our app to life. We are looking for a visionary whom is interested in innovating product in the broadcast industry, fully aligned with our core team and founders — the goal: visualising and reinventing the future of live graphics.
The successful candidate will need to be detailed, polished, and be willing to push the boundaries of what’s technically possible, while not being afraid to push forward new and exciting ideas.
As a design technologist, you’ll be collaborating with our engineers and founders to design and build across areas in UI, UX, broadcast themes and animations while working with the latest technology and design tools. Simultaneously, as the art director, you will be responsible for the overall look and feel of our app, imprinting the LIGR brand across sports broadcasts all over the web.
What you'll be doing:
- Actively participate in concept development and design iteration as part of a cross-functional team.
- Working closely with our engineering team to translate conceptual ideas across UI, UX, native apps and broadcast themes into reality
- Help to translate designs to engineering workflows for fast-to-market prototyping and testing
- Be able to work creatively while understanding the limitations of certain sports and live data available.
- Understand the nuances of LIVE / real-time graphics and their application within a sporting context
- Be part of building a design system and creating documentation around this
- Constantly researching how new technologies can be used to create more efficient workflows with our engineers to create exciting new themes and experiences for our users
- Designing web interfaces/content management systems
We'd love it if you had:
- A portfolio of work that demonstrates how you have used technology to create design solutions
- Experience delivering detailed and high-quality interactive experiences with a deep passion for code and creativity
- Coding and front end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, react) is not a requirement however an understanding of the front end web ecosystem (next generation design tools / asset types / design systems / component based design / prototyping ) is highly valued
- A strong sense of design and ideally an understanding of live graphics / broadcast design within sport.
- UX/UI and responsive design knowledge
- Interactions, prototyping, next generation tooling experience
- Component-based design
- Theming and style guide creation
Daily Tasks
- Taking ownership of an entire art / graphic direction
- Designing motion graphic themes for live broadcast.
- Designing user interfaces for the web and mobile.
- Improving process and workflow around the creation of a new graphics theme.
- Generating a design system.
- Communicating with front-end engineers to ensure the design meets the specifications as well as ensuring accurate implementation.
